I’m excited to spend 5 weeks in Thailand and Cambodia as a recipient of the Pulse Artist residence. During my time I’ll be hosting creative labs with local artists, working with collaborators to develop pre existing work, open studio days and complete work and publish my photo book H3.
The book will be published and sold by Pulse Galleries as a social enterprise dedicated to support their continuing work as leaders and advocates for better health outcomes and equality for LGBTIQ+ folks in South East Asia. I’m proud to be a part of their history as the first artist to publish a book with the gallery.

A collective exhibition of photographic works by Sam Gatsby Lim and the artist XYZ.
An exhibition of works that celebrates homosexuality as an enduring part of human culture. Using oblique perspectives to capture male desires, Sam Gatsby Lim and XYZ bridge the valorising of men as well as darker elements of gay men’s sexual lives. This exhibition is an opportunity to explore contemporary male homosexuality and ideas around men looking at other men. This work Juxtaposes images taken by Gatsby and the natural Australian landscape. Queer sex, intimcacy and bodies as a force of nature.
Sydney World Pride arts amplified program, an intimate selection of instant film and digital prints present unapologetically homosexual and queer bodies. It will be sexy!

As part of Pulse Gallery's KINKYBKK series Gatsby is showing a selection of Large digital photographic prints and Instant film.
The images are an artifact of the intimate experiences. The miniature materiality of instant film invite the viewer to come closer while larger life sized prints uncomfortably magnify the expressions of love, lust and the ineffable usually only seen behind closed doors...
